Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
