Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
