Liverpool's Star Offers Statement to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Mohamed Salah said sorry to the group of players in the wake of the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match following voicing frustrations and stating his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I get that there are certain ways you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the period after the situation. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not intended to harm the team.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, getting results and on a positive run.”
