Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial Fall Classic after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Down by two runs, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 series win in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit twenty-three October home runs, placing him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot except for Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it hurts" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he continued.

Toronto claimed the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
