President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed reporters. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Attendees came together over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to assist people.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event caused the government to pause refugee claims and cease providing entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” the governor addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
